H2 Driving School

There is going to be an H2 specific driving acadamy opening this summer. Here are the details from the Hummer site:

Quote:
Both the H1 and H2 can handle deep water, precarious side slopes and steep inclines, even vertical ledges that seem beyond any vehicle's ability to climb, and by the end of the Driving Academy you'll have learned how to handle all that too.

In addition you will also learn recovery techniques, mapping, trip preparation, proper usage of the Global Positioning System and field repairs to round out your training.

The programs are as intensive as they are exciting and are highly recommended if you really want to learn how to get the most out of your HUMMER. Not to mention a chance to meet some very interesting, like-minded people.

Both the H1 and H2 are unique vehicles, made to do unique things, so it logically follows that their driving academies would be equally unique. In 2003, HUMMER will host separate driving academies for H1 and H2 owners. The H1 academy takes place at the AM General test track in South Bend, IN. The H2 Academy will also be in South Bend and possibly other event locales. To find out when the driving academies are being held just check out the HUMMER.com calendar.

For more information on the H1 Academy, contact Tim Bonadies at 574-258-6622 or tbonadies@amgeneral.com

For more information on the H2 Academy, call 1-866-831-9547

Love to hear feedback from anyone who attends this program. I think the first one might be this week so it might be a while before we here.

I was interested in doing it until I found out how much they where charging. It's not cheap...

$3,575. Includes airport transfers (not actual airfare to Southbend), lodging for 3 nights, food, ground transport, use of a H2 for driving activities and a driving instructor to provide personalized off-road driving instruction

That's not inexpensive. It must cost a small fortune to run a driving school. Figure the liability insurance, wear and tear on the Hummers, facilities, staff and more.

It could be worth it if you learn and get to run them pretty hard.

dealer I purchased my H2 from had pictures of the AMG Proving Grounds where they host the driving academey. They sure but the truck is some "unusual" situations for sure. Some of the situations they put drivers in most folks, even those who off-road would probably never see or being willing to try with there own vehicle for sure.

I haven't seen any feedback on any forums from a person who has attended though. Really curious to get the full detail...
