Charting the H2 Changes for 2004

Why don't we start up a thread where people post anything and everything they've read/heard about changes to the original H2 for 2004?

Do we know what colors are going away and what colors are replacing them?

I saw an enticing picture of a navigation system in one of the interior shots of the SUT. Anyone know anything?

How about Satellite Radio? Cooled seats? Etc.?

Looking forward to my 2004. I always give an auto maker a full year to work out bugs before I jump on board. But I'm itching! =)

Hi all,

Lets see, I haven't heard of any changes for the 2004's. Hopefully there will be some improvements though.

I have heard of 2005 changes though:

Colors - Sunset Orange is going away. New colors include "Stealth Grey" (bluish grey), "Desert Sand" (Army beige).

Engine - Duramax

No Navigation for 2004, but I bet you could get one from an Escalade and have it installed.

2005 Navigation -

UM8
Sound system, ETR AM/FM stereo with CD player and DVD integrated Navigation, includes full-feature autonomous navigation, 1 DVD disc, Points of Interest; seek-and-scan, auto-tone control and Radio Data System (RDS)

I think that's it!

2005 huh? I'd be all over this for in a 2004. Good gas mileage, plenty of power from the factory and very easy to extract more power in the aftermarket. This would give me an incentive to wait a year.

I was hoping to see the addition of rear air conditioning...

Bought one of the first H2 last year and sold it after 5 weeks because of the poor performance of the air conditioning. It gets hot in Texas and this thing needs the rear air like the other GM suvs. Fix that and I am back in one in a heart beat!

What bugs?:) They didn't wait a year to make changes. For example, the DRL bulb and socket were changed already in mid-year to address the problem with the reflector degrading.

But, what BUGS? There will always be little things and pesky problems no matter what year vehicle you buy. Many of the components of the H2 were already time-tested on other GM vehicles...

And, here's the VERY best part of all. While you've been reading about and looking at pictures of the H2 --- I've been enjoying DRIVING one! Now, where's that icon of the tongue sticking out?;)

Seriously? I have not had ANY problems yet. I HAVE been thrilled with driving it around. It would amaze me if ANY major changes were made in 2004. Colors? I have the best color already. Nav system? I don't get lost.

But, you've waited this long, so you must be the patient type?:) You've only got about 4 months to go now before the 2004 comes out? Hey, I gotta go. Think I'll drive around town for a while...

2005 Model? That might just be the reason I would wait. I wanted a Diesel version and was *stunned* to hear that none was avaliable.

Anyone know when the 2005 model be avaliable for ordering?

Sorry, but you might be more disappointed. Every source that I have heard talk about diesel in the H2 has stated that there will not be any diesel, for multiple reasons.

It isn't just a matter of dropping a duramax into the engine compartment. Factors like physical weight differences would have to be taken into account, for instance. If you greatly increase the weight of the engine, you would have to beef up the suspension which would then affect the way the beast handles. I don't think you will convince an engineer to satisfy your desire for a diesel at the expense of ruining one of the main selling points --- namely the way the H2 handles off- and on-road.

If you are seriously considering waiting for a diesel, you might either want to opt for a H1 or talk to someone with "real" inside information so that you get the true facts. It would seem like a shame if you waited until 2005 only to realize that they never had any intention of adding the diesel option.

Thanks for the info...

Not going to wait for long. Talked with a dealership today and I am now in the process of buying on. Should have it soon - just have to deciede on a Sunset Orange or Pewter. :)

When I bought mine, I had narrowed the choice down to the yellow or pewter. It was hard to decide. :)

But deciding upon whether or not to buy a H2 was not a tough decision, anyway! ;)

You'll love your Hummer!

Remmuh is right, certainly don't wait for a feature that is only a rumor at this point. Only time will tell.

I have an SUT on pre-order (waiting list deposit). My dealer thinks they will start accepting 2005 orders late this year or just into 2004.

I have been told the same things as "remmuh". there will not be a duramax dieself put into the H2 for all of the reasons as weight differences, size, ect.. mostly, i was told by my dealership taht in order to put a duramax in one you would have to totally re-work the frame, because the H2 has one all its own and the motor mounts will not line up to the frame.. i'm still with everyone else, i'd rather a diesel also....
