I thought some of you could use it as a holiday idea: My gramps lives in a nursing home, he’s very happy there and it’s a nice place. He’s a big reader, always has been, but lately his cataracts are interfering with his ability to read some text, especially stuff on a computer screen. Anyway, I bought and installed the new version of Dragon Naturally Speaking ( http://www.nuance.com/naturallyspeaking/ ) for him and now he has it set up so that he can just tell the computer to read something and it will read it out loud for him. He can also just speak in a series of commands to boot up and start his browser so that he doesn’t really have to look at the screen much at all. Anyway, I think it’s great that this kind of thing is available.
