I have said for over a year now that if I could fit a Hummer into the garage of my 1920's house I would buy one...I seriously did not think one would fit. Last weekend I went to the local car show and checked out the Hummers. I wrote down the measurements but was sure it was too big. When I got home I couldn't believe it--it looks like it will fit. Now I have to get serious. A few questions:
1) Is it going to be tough to park? or to find a parking spot that will it will fit into?
2) Am I going to have reliability problems with the 2004's--it sounds like the 2003's were rated low in reliability.
I don't care about the gas mileage--but its going to freak out my liberal neighbors!
I'm into "big" things--I wear a Panerai watch (if you don't know what this is go to www.paneristi.com)
I would personally go for one of the standout colors, but my wife votes for a pewter--oh well.
Any comments that will get me to go down to the dealership quickly will be appreciated. Are the dealers discounting these vehicles? I read a recent article that the inventories are up on the Hummers and my local dealer says he has every color and option available. Should I go for the Lux or base. The main options I want are the 3rd row seat and sunroof. Thanks for any comments.

Life is too short! If you want one, buy one! or else you'll be remorseful and have that what if? Syndrome. We simply enjoy ours… Always a conversational piece at get togethers… Enjoy!

You need to watch out for parking garages. You need at least a 7'-0" clearance and a lot run at 6'-8". It helps to know where you can street park, or have a second smaller vehicle for places like that. In normal parking lots it's NO problem. I find joy in finding tight spots that makes it difficult to back out of such that I'm forced to run forward over curbs and grassy medians. Parking next to small medians also helps in parking. The H2 honestly doesn't know the difference between a standard curb and a small chipmunk when it comes to running over stuff. Just beware of rebar in parking blocks.

There are 2 types of problems I've seen with the 2003 H2: electrical and body seals (mainly door and window). Keep in mind this is a totally new vehicle, so unproven parts will have to be tested. I have a 2003, and have had the wiper motor replaced, A/C actuator replaced, and muffler straps put on. Does it bother me to take in my brand new vehicle for repairs? Not for a second when I see my truck. :) And I'm usually one to bitch about things like that, but with the H2, it just doesn't seem to matter - heck, look what you're driving! Now, the body construction and engine are extremely sound. And from what I understand, a lot of the little glitches from the 2003 have been fixed with the 2004, and most dealers (from what I've heard) are extremely accommodating when it comes to warranty repairs. And Hummer is pretty up-to-date in issuing technical bulletins about faulty parts.

Go for a standout color. I wanted pewter on the way to the delaership, and while I was sitting at the light, I realized that the Camry in front of me, 2 pickups and another SUV in the same lane were all in that EXACT color. Why bother getting the most incredible truck out there and then put the same color everyone else has on it? That's why I got the yellow. You won't regret it.

My guess is it depends on the dealer when it comes to discounts, but you should be able to find exactly what you're looking for. I honestly have never seen the base H2 - only the Lux and the Adventure. I have the Lux and love it. Good luck, and I can assure you that you will love this truck.

:agree I just placed an order for 05 Yellow H2 with $2000 uplift. Hopefully, the actual price is less than the uplift.
