Here's the short scoop. Me, wife, and youngest (18) son left in house. My car: '00 Jeep Gr. Cherokee Ltd. Wife's car: '03 H2 Loaded.

I was waiting for the H3 to replace my Jeep.

#3 son just totalled my Jeep tonight--3/1/04 (He's OK, thankfully).

Can't wait for the H3 now---Choices: Caddy SRX, Lexus SX330, another Jeep (but it'll be restyled for '05); Chrysler Pacifica.

Don't know which way to turn. I want somewhat unique vehicle, luxury, dependability, and all-wheel drive (full time 4x4).

Sketchy as to whose ins. co. will pay the bill right now, but hoping other's ins. will accept total responsibility.

Ideas? Questions? Suggestions? I've got 1 week to come up with a set of wheels. :banghead

I've heard good things about the Caddy, but the styling is too minivan-ish for me.

If I understand correctly, this is going to be a temp car until the H3 comes out? Then I would discard all ideas about styling and look at resale values. Go with whatever is going to retain the most value.

No, this will be a long term buy (well, 3-5 years). Don't care what you buy, you'll take a terrible financial hit if kept for just 6-12 months.

Update: Other ins. co is accepting full responsibility and even renting me a car (Hundai---uggh!!).

Only questions remaining are 1) will it be fixed or totalled. Indiana requires that if repairs exceed 70% of value (retail, I assume) it is to be considered totalled. 2) What to get.

Really like the Caddy SRX, but the GMC Envoy XUV is gaining. Only trouble with the Envoy is it's 4x4 instead of AWD.

Monday, all figures will be in and I can make a knowledgeable decision instead of guesses.

PS: Anyone interrested in a freshly, professionally, repaired 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited--loaded?
