Power Folding Mirrors?

I currently own a Land Rover Discovery and am considering trading up to an H2 this year.

Took a used one out for a test ride at a friend's GMC dealership and loved it but I have one concern....it just BARELY fits in my garage heightwise and will only fit width wise if I fold both mirrors in. The truck I drove didn't have power folding mirrors. The Hummer site mentions it as an option but I didn't know if they were power mirrors that fold only manually or if they actually fold in towards the body with the touch of a button.

I really can't live with having to get out of the truck or climb over the colsole to fold the passenger side mirror in every time I enter the garage.

If GM doesn't offer mirrors that fold automatically, are there aftermarket kits available? So far I haven't found any after some preliminary searches.

I can't beleive there aren't many others out there with this problem.

Thanks gang...

They ALL come with factory power folding mirrors.

Hi John! Same problem with our garage.

Here's the good news...

One click of a button on the driver's armrest folds both the driver and passenger mirror in automatically. It's standard equipt on all H2s.

The mirror settings are saved as part of the Driver 1 or Driver2 codes, so they will automatically unfold back to the correct position for each driver. You'll never have to adjust them manually.

The only thing I can think of that may over-ride the folded mirrors is enabling the 'tilt down mirrors' driver setting. That's something you would want to test before backing out of the garage!! My husband and I disabled the tilt setting which is done easily in the driver1, driver2 setting program.

The step-rails (ours are the non-removable version) don't interfere width-wise - if the truck fits with mirrors folded in, it fits.

In the beginning, I had a little trouble lining up when pulling in - not much room for error (3 inches on each side). We hung a piece of rope on the exterior of the garage door that lined up with the left hood pull. After a bit of getting used to, the rope's no longer required. Just FYI - in case your wife will be drivin!

Hope this helps! Good luck with the purchase of your dream machine - you're gonna LOVE it!
