: H2 SUT Taking First Orders
After waiting many, many, months, my dealer called today and said that the factory has authorized a limited number of orders to be taken for the first SUT's off the line.
Still No MSRP, although they did release the new colors called stealth gray & desert sand, but no swatches or any way to tell what these colors look like.
I'll update the list if I get any more info.

Mike O 02-23-2004, 05:28 PM atsi,
Thanks for posting - I too have been waiting months to hear from my dealer. Today I went to the dealer hoping to preorder the SUT, but the sales manager was on vacation. While I was there, I noticed a GM info book on the H2 SUT. After looking through the book, I found something interesting regarding the GPS: Although GM has designed a new touch-screen GPS head unit for the SUT, it seems that you still can NOT play a CD while navigating. :cry
Other than that, the SUT looks pretty awesome. If anyone else is considering the SUT, what are your thoughts about the GPS? Will you order the factory GPS system, or go with an aftermarket solution?
Thanks!
Mike O'Neill
Sportsdude 03-21-2004, 11:22 AM CD player will not work while using it as Nav?:confused1

Mike O 03-31-2004, 05:18 PM Sportsdude,
Sorry for the delay responding.
To quote the H2 SUT dealer brochure: "Using DVD Navigation system and listening to a CD cannot be done simultaneously." The brochure was printed in December, so there is a remote possibility that GM could change its plans before producing the vehicles next month.
However, when I "officially" ordered the truck on March 11th, there was NOT an option for a CD changer to go with the nav system. Adding an aftermarket CD changer should be fairly simple (since the nav supports slave units like XM), and I plan to do it after my SUT arrives.
Hope this helps,
Mike O
SuperChevyICM 04-08-2004, 01:42 PM While the CD & DVD Nav cannot be used at the same time the way I understand to get around this is to use the DVD to set your destination and then once it is set and loaded you can take the DVD out and switch to CD's. I have not had the chance to try it but that is the word I am hearing.
SUT's are scheduled for production now. Our first two are slated to be built in the third week of May and hit the ground the second week of June.
:)
Mike O 04-08-2004, 04:50 PM Marvin,
I certainly hope GM integrates a route memory system similar to what you described; is that feature present on the current (03-04) GM navigation units?
I'm sure you get this question frequently, but have you heard anything about pricing on the SUT? I'd like to find out soon - I don't want to be surprised the day I go to pick up my SUT ;)
Thanks for the info!
Mike O

So far we have not received any timeline on the release of the pricing for the SUT or H2 for '05. I will let you know when I do though.
Mike O 04-09-2004, 10:38 AM Marvin,
I remember hearing April 18th as the day production would start, but it seems like the date keeps getting pushed further back. Earlier this week my dealer told me my SUT would be built around May 3rd, and today the sales manager called and said May 17th. Since my dealer has been completely clueless in the past, I'm guessing they have no idea about the cause of the delay. Have you heard anything from HUMMER about this? I knew that delays were inevitable, I'm just curious about the cause.
Thanks again,
Mike O

They are probably looking at the TPW on their order banks which stands for Target Production Week. When a vehicle is ordered the first week or two after it is placed the TPW has atendency to change as their production schedule becomes more finalized. This is especially true of a new product roll out. The best way to tell is when the TPW starts to stay the same for a week or two at a time. My two that are ordered are sitting at the week of may 17th and have been for a week or more so I would think that is a pretty solid date. Hope this helps.;)
Mike O 04-09-2004, 11:45 AM Thanks for the prompt reply Marvin.
My dealer has been so out of the loop on the SUT it wouldn't have surprised me if they just made up a date the first time ;)
Thanks again,
Mike

ICM,
Did you order just the two initially? Will they be delivered to you at the same time, or individually as they come off the line?
Thanks!

DRBLOCK,
Is this the orange metallic color you mentioned? Unfortunately this color will not be available.

Here is the color swatch; when I saw the Desert Sand Metallic in person, it looked quite a lot like the swatch. If you need some pictures of the DSM, just let me know, and I will try to dig some up.

MrSUT 04-11-2004, 07:49 AM MikeO,

SuperChevyICM 04-12-2004, 08:36 AM GM only allocates you so many to start out with. Our start up was two units. They are being built the same week and we will probably see them about two weeks after production. GM allocates how many you get based on your sales history, as we are a medium sized dealer we are getting only the two in the first wave and then we are getting seven in the next wave that will be about 2-3 weeks after those.
The color of the SUT that you have seen was a Concept color only. Hopefully we may see it in the future as a choice. I have a couple of H2's coming in both of the new colors and will post pictures of them if you have not had a chance to them in full color by then.
Mike O 04-12-2004, 11:11 AM Lynch Hummer has a few photos of the DSM:

More photos here. (http://www.lynchhummer.com/h2pages/sut.preview.html) Keep in mind that some of the photos are the SUT concepts.

MrSUT 04-12-2004, 11:48 AM Are you sure that's the DSM? Looks kinda like Pewter with bad lighting.
Thanks for that info ICM, I appreciate it!
MrSUT 04-12-2004, 01:06 PM One more question ICM.
Were you able to pick the color and options of your first allocated SUTs? Or is GM just sending you 2 trucks?

Thanks Mike O for the response. I placed an order today for an 05 H2 with the NAV. Hope it's worth the extra $$.
Anyone have the sunroof and air suspension? If so, would you order it again if had the opportunity?

I initially thought it was Pewter too. However, if you look at the shot of the tailgate next to the DSM color swatch, they look very similar.
Marvin might be able to distinguish the colors a little bit better - but I'm fairly certain that the photos are DSM.

SuperChevyICM 04-12-2004, 06:33 PM Mike-- You are right those are pictures of the DSM. if you adjust the lighting on them a little you can get a little better idea of the color but I would still like to see it in a natural light setting.
MRSUT-- I got to pick the colors on the first two orders I had.
SuperChevyICM 04-13-2004, 11:47 AM Yes, They had some restrictions as far Suspension & No Base Packages but they were open to what color I wanted to put in.

And when you look at the build/delivery data on the computer, are those the two trucks that are coming?
The question is - are you getting the colors/options you ordered for your first two units?
- For everyone else, I'll be at the NY Auto Show this coming Sunday and will be taking lots of pics! :thumbs
