Duramax

Any idea on when the Duramax will be available in the H2?

I was told by my dealer that the H2 shares the same transmission fitment problem with the Yukon and Suburban. Basically, the transmission is too large to fit... I would like to hear from a factory engineer on this... I have been waiting as long as I can, hoping that 2004 would have a Duramax option.

Does anybody know if the spare tire carrier will come standard, as well as full third row seating and AC vents?

I heard the same from a factory rep at a GM car show (not some yahoo salesman that thinks the H2 is used by the military).
The Allison tranny won't fit the Burb unless the floorpan is changed, and the tooling costs rampup etc would cost $$ so they were not ina rush to go that route, so they started looking at a de-tuned D-Max that they could hook up with the standard GM truck auto tranny.

We have done it! The H2 with Duramax is a blast to drive! We can provide this conversion for you, it is not cheap.
