I just picked up my 2004 H2 with everything. I have never been this excited about a piece of metal. The main difference is of course the DVD Navigation, It rocks. Contrary to reports it does not play video DVD's in park. The radio antenna is a metal whip about 3 feet long. The rear seat has a shoulder belt added for the center passenger and the belt recepticles are put on spring loaded rigid cable system, so you don't have to hold them up while putting the rear seat down. The wheel has a nice H2 emblem and is a little more custom looking in the center portion. I will get some pics soon. Off to enjoy!

<<Contrary to reports it does not play video DVD's in park.>>

Hmmm ... that doesn't sound right. It won't play, even with the engine running, and tranny in Park?

I live in Miami and put in my factory order through local dealer with deposit back in early July. I have my vin # but no car yet. It was shipped via train on 9/13 but not arrived yet. Anyone in Miami area have their 04 yet? Thanks. Still waiting.

I live in the Philly area, and am still waiting, too.
Ordered about 4 weeks ago, though, so I guess I can be a little more patient.

Still waiting for those pics....especially the whip antenna and the navigation system.

All,
I know how frustrating it can be to wait for the new beast! The dealer knows the vin and what state the order is in but no real idea what day it will show up. I was able to spot mine as listed in my dealers inventory a couple of days before it showed up. I went to http://www.gmbuypower.com/build.bp? I then put in the appropriate info and continued to the "build you own" section. Then i just picked the series, color and seats, and clicked the "continue to summary" button and then the "search dealer inventory" button. Then choose my dealer. This showed me the trucks that were on the lot or near to being delivered. You can look at the window stickers and the vin numbers. Mine showed up here about 5 days prior to it being delivered. It was not much consolation but at least I could see it getting close.

ps: The Nav does not play video dvds. I don't have pics yet but the Nav can be seen at this url:

Well I finally did get my 2004 H2 here in the tropics of Miami, Florida. It is wow! I will try to post pics of the whip antennae and the shoulder belt in the middle of the 2nd row of seats and the little H2 emblem in the middle of the steering wheel. I also heard from the dealer the center console inside is a little different. No coin holder rather it has slots for discs.
Mine is Pewter Metallic, Lux series, and Sunroof. 2004

Oh, the dealer told me that there is a memo that there are 2 New Colors this year. Guess that until they arrive at the showroom we won't know the new colors.

"Mine showed up here about 5 days prior to it being delivered" :eek

5 days - what are they doing to it :confused1

The sooner they get it in your hands, the sooner they have your money :jester

Certainly your dealer is not on the same schedule as my C5 dealer, who happens to also sell Hummer's. My C5 arrived and was delivered the same day :thumbs

Regardless, enjoy your ride and be safe :flag

I meant that it showed up online as in the dealer's inventory five days before it was dropped off the truck into the dealers lot. They got it ready for me in hours with a bunch of add ons!

H2EXTREME,

I am very anxious to see pics of your interior with the new navigation. I am sure it is sweet!!!

Is it the same navigation head unit used in the Cadillac Escalades?

Don't make me go down to my local Hummer dealer to see the interior of one. Make it easy on all of us.:)

Thanks!

Guys,

If H2EXTREME can't post pics for us to see of the 2004 interior with the navigation, we may be able to snap some digital pics this weekend possibly if I can get over to our local Hummer dealer.

Guys,

Here is a pic of a 2004 H2 with the DVD based navigation system.

Take note of the steering wheel and how great an aluminum bezel would look around the navigation system. It looks like it needs a filler.

DocEK,

Any word on your H2?

We are anxious and waiting to see pics and your personal review of the truck.

I haven't gotten a chance to test drive one so please tell me how you like the ride quality and suspension feel of the H2, ok?

Thanks!

GOT IT!!!!!

Picked up the new 2004 H2 this evening.
I snapped a few pics before it got too dark, but won't be able to download them till tomorrow, and it will give me time to snap a few more by then.

It's a GREAT car. Drives smoothly and handles much better than my old Navigator. I didn't get to test the suspension too much, as I only drove it home from the dealer. When I got home, I found I needed an airport runway flashlight person to help me fit this beast into the garage. (barely fits into the 2 car garage)
The DVD/NAV system definitely does NOT play DVD movies. It just says "disc not recognized". The map is pretty cool though as the voice leads you home.
The antenna is on the passenger side and doesn't appear distracting.
I'm still making my way through the owner's manual. The Driver Information System is a little confusing to program.

Will add pics tomorrow for sure, and make more comments on the
car.

<<The DVD/NAV system definitely does NOT play DVD movies.>>

---Does the literature consider this a DVD system as well as Navigation, or is it referred to as a NAV system (only)?

DocEK

No. It's a DVD based navigation system but not a DVD player.
It does, though, play CDs and controls the radio function.

Interestingly, the manual does list XM Satellite Radio as an option, but I don't think this version is capable of receiving this.

I like the new Navigation system, but I'll go out on the limb and be the first to say that the the steering wheel emblem doesn't look right and I prefer the old style antenna.

I agree, I like the old style antenna better.... GM put that 3 ft whip antenna ... reminds me of a CB radio antenna:banghead

So what is the point of the 3' whip antenna? :nodno
