Intake system and carbon fiber parts

Halltech is looking seriously at producing an intake system for the H2 and may be making some interior carbon fiber pieces. These would not be appliques but actual replacement carbon fiber parts.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Jim,

As a C5 customer of your products, the quality is top notch and for sure would be a welcome addition to my H2.

Halltech (Jim),

Ok, I looked at the link you have above and checked out the tunnel port intake system.

1) The H2 Tunnel Port will have to come through the hood of the H2.
Being a long time jeep owner and off roader, I can guarantee you that our H2s will get wet. Sucking (or should I say tunneling) water into the engine won't work for guys like us. It doesn't have to be a snorkel, but keep it high to keep it dry. I'll make my H2 as fast as it can go, but not at the expense of off-road capability.

2) Keep in mind that since the H2 is a damn slow machine (at least by my standards) most of us are trying to make them faster. Your intake will have to fit together with supercharger systems. The best supercharger around for the H2 is the Radix Intercooled Magna Charger System sold by several outfitters (http://www.breathlessperformance.com/products/Hummer%20Magna%20Charger.asp). Make sure your system fits off the shelf, or provide adapters as necessary.

3) If you do come up through the hood, I figure you'll need to provide a scoop of some sort. So:
a) If the scoop is offset to one side, see if you can make a symmetrical one on the other side and keep it functional as well.
b) Make the scoop(s) large enough to handle the volume of air. Don't do what some outfitters did with their ram air and make the intakes too small - http://www.breathlessperformance.com/products/Hummer%20Ram%20Induction%20Towers.asp. (Sorry Breathless, but you did get a plug on the supercharger above.)
c) You can make the scoop(s) black or gray so guys don't have to paint it - Though on a 55k truck I have to figure most guys will spend the extra 100 bucks to get it painted.

4) Do a before and after on a Dyno so we know how much hp increase to expect.

I'm excited to see this product. Best of luck and do post when the system is ready!

Also, as to a Carbon Fiber dash - is this just an asthetics mod? If it doesn't make the H2 faster or more off-road capable I'm not going to use it. That said, there do seem to be a good amount of guys who like to gweed out their H2s so maybe there is a market, but I think someone already makes them (http://www.teakatoys.com/html/h2_dash_kit.html).

i think a scoop through the hood would look cool... in CF. and if u are worried about water intake, u can always incorporate some type of bypass valve b4 the air is introdocued to the throttle body. mm CF.. yummy. ram air effect, it should be interesting...

also make sure the intake has some sort of heat shield.
