: When can I order a 2004 H4?
Hummed 07-22-2003, 03:17 PM Anyone know when Hummer will start taking orders for the 2004 H2?
I've looked on cars.com and several other websites and they are already listing 2004 models for most cars. When will they start listing the 2004 H2s? Also, when will dealers start taking orders?
Also, does anyone know how long it takes to get your H2 from the time you place the order?
Thanks!
P.S. I know the SUT is comming out during the second quarter of 2004 as a 2005 model. I'm looking for the regular 2004 H2, thanks.

GhostRider 07-23-2003, 08:06 PM So what kinds of prices are they quoting you guys - MSRP, the famous Adjusted Market Value or are you getting dollars off MSRP?
I am pondering retiring my Bronco and like the H2 but have a personal rule of not paying above MSRP :smash
DocEK 07-23-2003, 10:46 PM Darn. I emailed my dealer weeks ago, to let me know when they would be talikg orders for the '04s......still waiting for a reply.
Thanks to the contributors of this website for keeping us all up to date.
I am curious about the new prices too?
Will there be much of an increase in the LUX package, and is the Delphi Navigation/Radio system an option?
Thanks
:yesnod
Hummed 07-25-2003, 07:31 AM Ok, so I went into my dealer to place the order and they did not have the '04 prices yet. They wanted to price me out for the MSRP for an '03 H2 and then add 3% for the increase. He said if the MSRP came out to be below the 3% increase then I would get the difference back.
Two problems:
1) If I do this I can't order the new Navigation system in the truck, since there is no pricing for it yet. Also, the dealer said that the Navigation units wouldn't be available until mid '04, is this true?!
2) Who the hell pays MSRP for anything?! I know it's a new model, but come on.
I think I am going to wait for the prices to come out before I order, so I'm almost back where I started, which is:
When will the prices come out for a 2004 H2?
Thanks,

DocEK 07-25-2003, 07:32 PM I heard from my local dealer again.
No word on the 2004s other than a "healthy price increase", but he wanted to make me a "great deal" on a 2003.
I'll wait for the new one with the navigation system.
Hummed 07-27-2003, 10:20 AM Hi guys, Checked with a couple of different dealers again today and they still don't have '04 prices yet. Aparently GM realeases them directly to the dealer's computer systems, but they don't know when this will happen. Still no prices listed on cars.com or any other websites.
Any info on when '04 prices will be out is appreciated.
Maybe I'll also try and call GM Corporate tomorrow. That should be a nightmare.
Thanks,
Hummed
Hummed 08-04-2003, 08:45 AM Called Hummer Corporate - got just what I expected. They are not sure when pricing will come out, maybe sometime mid-august. They are not sure if the navigation system will be offered initially vs. later on.
They said they would call me when they got more info. I'm not holding my breath.
Has ANYONE gotten actual pricing on an '04 yet? Or are you guys just paying '03 prices with a markup?

DocEK 08-07-2003, 07:57 PM Thanks Rick.
You're very kind to list all the prices of the base and all the options.
I know many of us have been waiting eagerly for these prices to be released. (With a big sigh of relief for the minimal price increase.)
Now everyone....GO OUT AND ORDER ONE!
(I will)

Hummed 09-18-2003, 10:26 AM Ok, I just got my 2004 H2 in yesterday (9/17/03).
I am posting the pricing so that you guys can negotiate a good deal on yours. In addition, I'll talk about Holdback and Finance Credit that dealers use to make money on these vehicles - this will save you thousands!

I Paid 55950.70 (which is 1000 over invoice), giving the dealer 3231.65 in profit - there is currently no cash-back or incentives on '04s.
Imporant Things To Note:
1) Note the discounted price in the navigation unit - this represents a credit because I already paid to upgrade the radio when I got the Lux Series. DO NOT LET DEALERS CHARGE YOU FULL PRICE FOR THE NAV UNIT IF YOU HAVE A LUX OR ADVENTURE SERIES.
2) LAM Contributions - these are advertising costs that the dealers are forced to pay to their local and national advertising groups each time they sell a H2. If you ask a dealer for $1000 over invoice, expect these charges to be included in there. The costs vary by location, so MAKE SURE THE DEALER SHOWS YOU A COPY OF HIS INVOICE SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT HIS LAM CONTRIBUTION COSTS ARE.
3) If you're wondering what 'Holdback and Finance Credits' are, let me explain. When dealers order a new H2, they finance them through a local bank or through GMAC. The car manufacturer (GM)assumes the H2 will sit on the lot for 90 days before it is sold. During this time, the car dealer will be incurring interest charges on the money they borrowed from the bank or GMAC. GM refunds a standard amount to the car dealers to cover this cost. For the H2, this amount is $2231.65. If you are ordering a brand new H2 and not picking one off of the lot, then you can use this amount to negotiate price - the theory being that the dealer did not incur any interest charges since you paid him right away. If you are buying a car that has been on the lot longer than 90 days, then don't even mention this to the dealer since you'll only be reminding him that he's not getting all of his interest costs refunded by GM. All in all, remember FOR A NEWLY ORDERED H2, ADD $2231.65 TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID OVER INVOICE TO DETERMINE THE DEALER'S PROFIT.
4) I got 5.25 for financing since I bought it through my company. It would have been 4.9 if I bought it personally.
5) I am checking in to the tax breaks for the H2. I'll post them as soon as I know more. I have heard you can write off as much as 49k in total, but I have to confirm that and see which write-offs they were referring to. I'll post that info soon.
Hope all this helps!
Good luck to all you H2 buyers!
- Hummed
P.S. I'll be posting a little bit about the Navigation Unit soon. I know people are asking about it.
DocEK 09-18-2003, 06:47 PM Thanks, HUMMED, for the notes on your new purchase.
Mine will be in shortly, and this will help greatly in negotiations.
I thought the Navigation system upgrade looked overpriced.
Hummed 09-18-2003, 09:53 PM Someone asked me why I didn't get the rear tire carrier. I plan to leave the spare tire in my garage for the following reasons:
1) I don't like the two step process to open the rear gate.
2) If you get a flat locally, your best bet is to have AAA or Hummer's Roadside Assistance bring it to a garage and fix the flat. After having a jeep with 37x12.5 tires on it, I only carry my spare around when I go on long trips or offroading.
3) I'm thinking about reinforcing the rear gate and creating a custom mount to hold the tire on it. Instead of manually lifting the gate, I would use solenoids - that's still up in the air though (no pun intended).
GPS info to follow soon!

Hummed - Thanks for posting all of that purchasing/pricing info. That was great to see it all spelled out like that!!
Please be sure to update us on the NAV system and your thoughts on it. And I'm also very interested in your writeoff findings.
Thanks again for the great info.

2005 H2 SUT deposit in since 12/02
steve long 09-19-2003, 07:33 PM Hummed ... doesn't the invoice specify that the NAV unit is already in another package? I am puzzled as to how someone can add a surcharge "suggesting" that it is a separate (additional) price, if it is already listed on the invoice (or, did I confuse myself).
Also, as to the LAM ... I disagree. Some dealers voluntaarily opt into programs like this (at least - all other GM marques, anyway). There are some dealers who say it is mandatory ... only because MGMNT tells them so. That's a hefty fee to pay ... without trying to find a dealer that does not pass that fee along to you.
Hope you are enjoying the H2! I'm jealous!
